Do you write grants on contingency or commission?
No. It is against the ethical standards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals to accept compensation based on a percentage of funds raised.
Are you familiar with the Federal Government’s online submission portal, www.grants.gov?
Yes. I have extensive experience applying and securing funds from federal sources. Please be sure your organization has a DUNS number, registered with SAM, created an account, and created an AOR profile.
How long have you been writing grants?
I have worked professionally as a development or communications professional since 2000. My first grant proposal was written in 1999 on a volunteer basis for the Northern Colorado AIDS Project. After that experience, I was “hooked” on grant writing. I have secured millions from foundation / government sources for organizations including Gertrude Press, University of Western States, YMCA, Ethos, Portland Art Center, Equity Foundation, and many others.
In addition to working as a front-line development professional, I have also worked as a community foundation program officer. I have served as a grant reviewer and I understand the qualities that make a program and proposal competitive.
What are your rates?
My rates vary depending on the service and the contract length. I do not charge on an hourly basis but instead a flat rate per project. If you are interested in learning more, contact Jedidiah Chavez Fundraising to discuss your grant writing needs.
